The Kita am Kiesbergwald is a remarkable facility for children between three and six on the southern edge of Lingen (Ems). The special location, the immediate proximity to the Kiesbergwald forest, and the unique architecture make this daycare center a place of well-being, learning, and joy.
Due to economic reasons, the city of Lingen decided to rebuild the former tennis hall into a daycare center for children with an unusual atmosphere and idea. In a record construction period of six months, it was completed in November 2019 under the management of Frank Exeler, according to the "house-in-house" principle. The almost 2,000-square-meter building shelters six identical tiny houses and benefits as a climate shell for the small "children's village."
The theme of "forest" runs throughout the space as a design vision. Tile patterns, floor colors, and furnishings are consistent with this concept. Using raw materials and near-nature motifs is vital in emphasizing environmental care and sustainability and is optimized through many structural details in the building.
As befits an actual residential settlement, the facades of the small houses are lined with exterior cladding. Combining durability and aesthetic appeal, the excellent choice of Kronoart® HPL compact exterior ensures safe and long-lasting use. In addition, the color scheme of red and green complements the forest theme of the centrally located indoor playground. The decors 9561 BS Oxide Green, 0132 BS Orange, 8996 BS Ocean Green, and K098 BS Ceramic Red deliver a close-to-nature feeling, thus creating a welcoming kid landscape for movement and discovery.
